How We Hire - Hackathon Round

• We don't rely on resumes alone. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a time-boxed hackathon where you'll build a small feature using your AI coding agent of choice. We care less about perfection and more about how you work — how you use AI tools, how you debug, how you communicate when stuck, and how you think through a problem you've never seen before. It's the fastest way for both sides to know if this is the right fit.

What You'll Do:

• Build features end-to-end front-end, back-end, and deployment — for our compliance products.
• Set up AI coding agents in Week 1 and use them for first drafts, refactors, and test generation.
• Critically review AI-generated code - spot bugs, push back on bad suggestions, know when to write by hand.
• Investigate before asking - read the codebase, tests, and docs; attempt a fix first; then come with "I tried X, hit Y, now thinking Z".
• Surface blockers early - give progress updates proactively; don't go quiet for a day.
• Write tests as engineering not an afterthought, whether or not the spec asks for them.
• Participate in code reviews, give and receive constructive feedback.
• Document lessons in the team knowledge base.

Qualification:

Must-Have:

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, IT, or a related field or under 2 years of professional experience.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, problem-solving.
• Daily hands-on use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Aider, or similar) - you can talk concretely about a time the agent got it wrong and how you caught it.
• Proficiency in front-end: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern framework (React preferred).
• Proficiency in back-end: Node.js, Express.js, and databases (MongoDB or SQL).
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub workflows.
• Comfort deploying to platforms like Vercel, Railway, Fly, or AWS.
• Comfortable picking up unfamiliar codebases and finding your way forward by reading and trying.

Good to Have:

• Experience with Next.js, Redux, or tRPC.
• Familiarity with TypeScript.
• Experience building features that use LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.)
• Exposure to Agile methodologies, open-source contributions, or compliance/fintech domains.
